Annual AGM 2008

The 2007 AGM was well attended by members from the UK and overseas, and included a boat trip from Inverness down Loch Ness to Urquart Castle and a guided tour through Glen Coe with James Irvine Robertson; a hike up to old Clan Donnachaidh ruins with Donald Reid; and a presentation by the Perth Museum of a restored doublet dating from the early 1500's.

At the AGM it was decided to schedule the 2008 AGM for the week of 13 September, in order to coincide with the annual Pitlochry Games. It is important to understand that these games are extremely popular in the UK and that this particular week is Pitlochry's busiest of the year.

Those intending to attend should make reservations as soon as possible...now is not too soon! Reserving airline seats to the UK on the flight of your choice becomes increasingly difficult the closer you get to the intended departure date.

Tentative plans for the 2008 AGM week include:

Thursday, 11th September:     Eddie Rose presents a "Highland Night" in the town hall.

Friday, 12th September:         AGM at Killiecrankie Hall at 2:00 p.m.

Reception and dinner at Scotlands Hotel

Saturday, 13th September:     Pitlochry Games in the Recreation Ground, 11:00 a.m. open. Highland dancing,
heavy events, piping, etc. Welcome at the local Branch tent.

Sunday, 14th September:       Clan Service at Struan Kirk at 12:30 p.m.

Fiddlers Rally in the Theatre at 7:30 - block booking needed (30tickets)

*********************************************************************************************************

Normally, we reserve a block of rooms at Fishers Hotel in Pitlochry for the AGM week, but we've been advised that Fishers is already completely booked for that week in 2008.

Therefore we've made arrangements with the Scotland Hotel in Pitlochry to hold 25 rooms for the week ending the 15th of September at the rate of £55 per person, bed and breakfast, or £65 per person, bed, breakfast and dinner. These rooms will be held for Clan Donnachaidh until the 1st of August, 2008, after which they will be on an "as available" basis.

Contact "Kate" at the Scotland Hotel and ask for the Clan Donnachaidh rate:
